NEW PFAS REGULATIONS FOR DRINKING WATER

The Biden-Harris administration has taken a groundbreaking step to address the public health crisis of PFAS (per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances) contamination by establishing the nation's first-ever drinking water standards for these 'forever chemicals.' Recognizing the serious health risks posed by PFAS, which do not break down in the environment and accumulate in human bodies, this initiative aims to protect over 100 million Americans. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is supporting this effort with nearly $1 billion in funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for PFAS testing and treatment, part of a broader $9 billion investment to combat PFAS pollution and improve water safety.

This historic action, combined with the work of innovative companies developing remediation technologies, represents a significant move towards reducing PFAS exposure and ensuring cleaner, safer water for communities across the nation.

🪴 HEAD OF ENGINEERING
Community Energy Labs (CEL) is seeking a Head of Engineering to lead the development of their AI-powered clean building control platform, which is focused on enabling buildings, particularly community buildings and schools, to use energy efficiently. This role involves close collaboration with the CEO to evolve the product from its current prototype to version 1.0 and beyond, as well as building and managing the first complete engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive background in software development, including experience with enterprise SaaS, IoT, ML engineering teams, and a strong foundation in modern programming languages and cloud computing environments. This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, 5-10 years of software development experience, and demonstrated leadership in software development and deployment.

🪴 DIRECTOR OF GRANT MANAGEMENT
A global consultancy focused on securing large-scale grant funding for high-impact climate solutions is expanding its team with a Director of Grant Management position. This role is ideal for individuals with over 5 years of experience in federal grant management, particularly those who have managed large grants ($100M+) and possess strong project and multi-stakeholder management skills. The successful candidate will be mission-driven, with a keen understanding of the urgency in addressing climate change, and will play a pivotal role in developing ambitious ventures within an under-resourced sector of the climate industry.

🪴 SCIENTIFIC MACHINE LEARNING ENGINEER
A mission-driven climate adaptation company is looking to hire a foundational team member for the pioneering role of a Machine Learning (ML) Engineer. This role involves taking ownership of developing and implementing ML models and working closely with Climate and AI scientists to translate research into scalable solutions. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience in ML engineering, expertise in Python, and a solid understanding of machine learning principles and algorithms. Preferred qualifications include experience with spatiotemporal data analysis and familiarity with geospatial data processing tools. This position offers the opportunity to tackle complex problems, continuously expand machine learning and climate science knowledge, and contribute significantly to the company's mission of building resilience against climate change.

That's all for this edition! Thanks for doing your part in mobilizing a workforce transition to work on climate!
