Building a Resilient Grid: Paving the Path for an Electrified and Sustainable Future

Building a resilient grid is the key to meeting the challenges of the 21st century. The Biden-Harris Administration's $3.5 billion GRIP (Grid Resilience and Innovation Partnerships) program aims to modernize the grid, enhancing its flexibility, efficiency, and reliability, and reduce the impacts of extreme weather events. Coupled with this, investments in grid resilience technologies such as micro-grids, energy storage, and distributed generation can help mitigate the effects of natural disasters, keep the grid running during emergencies, and accommodate the surge in EVs and renewable energy.

A resilient grid has far-reaching benefits. It ensures access to affordable, clean electricity for communities nationwide, creates union jobs, and provides a reliable grid capable of weathering storms. Additionally, it plays a pivotal role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions by integrating more renewable resources into the grid and supporting the widespread adoption of EVs, thereby helping us meet our climate objectives.
