Turning Your Networking into Opportunities

Earlier this week, Natalie Lavery, Marketing Lead at Climate People, hosted an in-depth workshop on positioning yourself in the climate job market.

Many roles are never posted publicly but rather filled through networking.

Natalie guides you through a proven 3-step process to access this 'hidden' job market. The process starts with defining your search and identifying key climate solutions, then moves on to mapping out potential companies and, finally, establishing your presence and expanding your network.

This hour-long session provides practical, concrete steps and equips you with the confidence and tools required for a networking-centric job search.

NET METERING

Net metering is a billing arrangement that allows utility companies to credit customers for the excess electricity they generate from renewable sources like solar panels. This system tracks the electricity consumed from the grid and the surplus produced, enabling homeowners to earn credits on their electricity bills, making renewable energy systems more economically viable and accessible. Learn more about net metering policies in your state on the DSIRE website.

🪴 COMPUTATIONAL SOFTWARE ENGINEER
We are partnering with a company focused on accelerating the transition to a decarbonized grid by providing software solutions to electric grid operators, utilities, and renewable energy project developers. They seek a motivated software engineer to build cloud software that facilitates deploying renewable energy projects. Key responsibilities include translating manual grid study processes into efficient code, deploying large-scale compute code on cloud infrastructure, and collaborating with the team to define product requirements. Proficiency in Python is required, and knowledge of C++, power systems, and cloud environments like AWS is advantageous. A BS/MS/PhD in EE/CE/ECE/CS and relevant software engineering experience are preferred.

🪴 CLIMATE TECHNOLOGY ANALYST II
Our client, an advisory firm, seeks a technical expert to lead the creation of analyses and value propositions for securing government funding in the semiconductor, material science, clean tech, industrial, and energy sectors. In this high-exposure role, you'll work with C-Suite executives, stay updated on government programs, manage grant applications, and develop technical materials. Requirements include a Bachelor's or higher in a hard science or engineering degree, strong analytical skills, creativity, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Experience in the relevant sectors is a plus.

🪴 JUNIOR DATA ENGINEER
We are seeking a junior Data Engineer to join a company dedicated to accelerating the transition to a reliable, decarbonized grid. In this role, you will take ownership of complex projects, working to enhance software solutions for electric grid operators, utilities, and renewable energy developers. Key responsibilities include architecting and deploying data pipelines, processing and analyzing data, and developing intuitive dashboards. Ideal candidates will have strong Python coding skills, experience with cloud-native ETL data pipelines, expertise in cloud-based relational databases, and a passion for using analytical problem-solving skills to drive impactful change in the renewable energy sector.
